Abstract: Inheritance is a spellbound suspense with lots of twists where Holy Randal, a young girl born 24 years ago in a prison was adopted by Smiths of San Diego, California ,USA. Holy Smith finds after the mysterious death of her great aunt that Holy was to own a very large wealth of Randal?s and be one of the richest women in USA. Her mother Connie was an arrogant, flashy film actress leading a fast life had married John Randal a very rich industrialist of New York, who had created enormous assets. Connie was not happy in John?s company. She was charged for second degree murder of her husband and was sentenced 20 years imprisonment. Before killing John , Connie was already pregnant carrying john?s child which she delivered while in the jail. Through arrangement with Randal?s attorney , the child was adopted by Smiths of San Diego.

Randal House was located in Long Island New York where Holy?s uncle John and his imperious wife Constance robbed what was rightfully belonged to Holy. Holy leaves her foster parents Smiths in San Di ego and comes to New York and on reaching she finds that before her death , Holy?s great aunt Alica had written a letter to Holy explaining that she was not Holy Smith but Holy Randal and she is the real claimant of the vast asset left behind her father. This letter is delivered to Holy by the car driver Kevin who is son of Mr. Jassal, the official driver at Randal House. Holy falls in love with Kevin who takes on duty of full time driver- cum guide for Holy in New York.

It was fortunate for Holy that her old uncle Ichabod had a faded scrape book and photographs of the past to establish scenario which lead to the killing of Holy?s father John Randal by her arrogant and affluent mother Connie . She was sent to jail for 20 years where she continued to be obstinate and misbehave with other inmates. After serving the full term, she came back and after exactly a year on 1 Apr she supposed to have lit fire to the house and got burnt inside. This was again a headline ?Another April Fool? that Connie who shot her husband a year ago on 1st Apr has committed suicide on 1st Apr. Infect, after coming out of jail she murdered a women and left her burnt body in her burnt house and herself escaped to Germany where she got plastic surgery done in Zurich to change her facial appearance . Thereafter she come back to Randal House and start living her old time lover Holy?s uncle John Randal with a changed name as Constance. They hired Buono to get rid of Holy.

Holy continues to look into the photo album more minutely and visit the jail superintendent Ms Jackson to know the whereabouts of her mother Connie after she was released from the jail. Holy had an inkling that such a cunning women would not commit suicide instead she would be plotting some thing more. She got the suspicion that Constance is Connie herself and for the last five years has been posing as Catherine Shaw and later as Catherine Randal so as to claim the entire Randal estate.

Holy announces that she would like to remain as Holy Smith and prepares to go to San Diego .Holy was invited for the evening party by her Uncle John Randal . John 70 years old man had raped Kevin?s sister who committed suicide due to shame .In the mean time Constance had decided to poison John and Holy during the party and then kill herself. She had prepared the suicide letter and kept it on the table. However, Holy was keeping a close watch and found that Constance had put poison in the drinks of John and Holy. She goes upstairs where Constance alias Connie was sitting in front of the dressing table with loaded revolver in the drawer . As Holy called ?mother what are up to?? Constance gets a shock that Holy had smelled the rat. Holy shoots her mother with latter?s revolver and replaces the suicide letter. As Holy went down in the lobby and took her drink she became very serious and doctor try to save her life. As she came out of danger, the doctortold her about a young man Toby Carter who saved her. Toby tells Holy not to thank him since he is her half brother as he was born out of illegal relation of John Randal with driver?s wife Dora Jessal. Toby told her that he had been following her all the time and he even knew that Holy had herself killed her old aunt by drowning her in the lake

It is to the credit of Tom Salvage that the plot is so complex and exciting that reader is spell bound till the last page where Toby writes a detailed letter about all the events as he knew it .The inheritance is full of suspense bringing out family drama and the price one has pay for inheriting great wealth.
