This book is a great effort by the legendary Marathi Writer Shri P.L.Deshpande.He has given a real picture of his stay in " Bolpur " ,the cultural Teaching school of Shri Rabindranath Tagore .
The writer was invited by the then Bengali Community to stay in Bolpur and get to know Bengali culture , values, teachings and a complete insight to Rabindranath Tagore`s writings.
The sweetness of Bengal , its sweets , Eating Habits , Fish Curry n Rice ,The Chochodi (mixture of so many vegetables) is a real treat to read .The concept of going to bed very late and waking up in the afternoon has been written in a humourous way.
The Music , Songs , Drama , Debates and folk songs and their in-depth meanings are well understood by the writer which gives him the feel of Bengal`s affection towards music and drama.
The typical names in Bengali i.e the DAK-naam like Bubai-Tukai -Boo -Mona-Shona -Papai and more such names are a great surprise for him and he makes an effort to memorise each and every name .
The Maa Durga PUja Festival and other such Festivals and the Faith of Bengali Community in these Festivals have been explained by the writer and the writer is impressed with their level of involvement in these activites.
The writer is also impressed with the Love and Affection of Bengali People towards each other and towards strangers like him as well .The care , passion , affection , helping attittude of these people makes the writer believe that Bengal is a real different place.
Also , in the end he explains how difficult it is for him to leave such a place .He had learnt complete Bengali Language , Its eating habits , its songs , dances and dramas.
The writer wants to make a sharp impression of these memories in his mind and leave Bolpur with a Happy Heart .
