The Waterworks
(E. L. Doctorow)

Publicidade
The Waterworks by E. L. Doctorow is a truly mesmerizing novel about New York in 1871. The story opens on Broadway when a freelance journalist, Martin Pemberton sees a horse drawn carriage filled with old men dressed in black. Among them he recognizes his father supposedly dead and buried years ago. After Martin repeats this incident to his editor, Martin disappears. The rest of the story is about the search for Martin and the quest to find out if his mean, wicked father is still alive. I enjoyed this book immensely and found it to be a real page turner because you just have to find out what happened to Martin.
