A recorded deed usually takes four to six months to process, it?s usually sent to the buyer from the real estate deed processor, not the owner. Creative Land Enterprises, the owner of the land, had sent Johnny the deed in two weeks.
He put the deed away and watched the excavator drink wine on the tractor.
?What are you doing??
He smiled. ?Johnny, I got some bad news,? he said, staggering down.
?You shouldn?t mix drugs with wine? ? he glanced at the bottle and the syringe.
?Cutting that road up there, is like a mule in heat,? he said, and drank.

Johnny pretended to cough.

And I will build y?all,? he started to spit again. ?I?ll build a road up there. I will. And Johnny, we?ll need a backhoe with a rotating boom so we can cut those ledges. . . . And more money, now.?
?What for?? Oh I know what for, he sighed. ?Does Mr. Chew or Mr. Kraemer have anything to do with this decision??
