4th Of July
(James Patterson)
Lindsay is a Lieutenant in the San Francisco Police Department. On her night off she is called by her former partner to follow a fresh lead on a series of recent murders and finds herself thrown into a nightmare before the long night is through. Standing trial for doing what she considers her duty, Lindsay feels both guilty and angry. Guilty for the lives a mistake can take in just a few seconds and angry because, had she not reacted the way she did; both she and her partner would have been killed. Relieved of her duties, forced to take a leave of absence for the duration of the trial and looking to avoid the media coverage hounding her case, she goes away with Sweet Martha, her faithful border collie, to her sister?s house in the quiet town of Half Moon Bay. Here she will find beautiful, sunny beaches, but definitely not the rest and relaxation she was expecting. Instead she will run into a blood bath of murders which draw her attention and her cop?s mind and remind her too vividly of her first murder case. Lindsay will try to find answers, following clues, as the responsible follows her and tries to get rid of her interference. Quick and exhilaratingly entertaining, 4th of July is definitely one of Patterson?s best reads. Be prepared. It will grab your attention and keep it! It is impossible to put down once you?ve started reading.
