There are so many books which seriously doesn't give you anything except fun and frolic.But certain books give you a sort of satisfaction ,when you read them.some of these books can be categorized as the best ones which really drives you towards a particular goal , if previously you have one.If not,they will aid you to have a purpose for balance of your life.These books can be from any group,like ,itcan be just an academic book,or even a novel.I came across few such books ,really have set pace and direction to my life.I would say this master piece from Arthur hailey is one among them.
This is all about a medical sales girl who rose in ranks in her company as well as the world of Business,how she with stood from pressures,how she made entry in to pharmaceutical selling profession,what were the obstacles then,in an undeclared patriarchal society, what challenges she faced in order to endure and rise?All this substance is really inspirational and influential to many readers.
If you see,there are many changes in the structure of pharmaceutical companies and their culture over a period of time after The novel came into world,still strong medicine is a relevant novel,which touches upon many things which are to be corrected by Pharmaceutical companies.
There are still several incidents of drug abuse, the one which you see in the novel about usage of thalidomide which causes the fetal malformation is an evergreen topic until pharmaceutical companies check themselves and refrain from marketing such drugs.The female protagonist in the novel faces a lot of challenge before her in order to convince her bosses to introduce a set up to train medical sales people and succeeds in her endeavour.You will be shocked to see even in these days of GATT and WTO ,there are many companies which doesn't even bother to train their sales staff.Passing wrong information,making false claims,furnishing cooked up reports ,resorting to unethical sales are all the corrupt procedures you can see today prevalent,particularly in the Third world nations.All these things were discussed in the novel seriously,yet maintained the structure of a commercial novel and its readability makes this novel really worth reading by one and all.The female protagonist marries a Doctor ,whose much famed colleague becomes a drug addict due to pushy sales measures of pharmaceutical companies, the free samples they give the Doctor tempts the Doctor to get addicted to one of those narcotic brands and ultimately gives up his life is a saddest tale in this novel.Thus the novel has touched almost all the points about pharmaceutical selling without giving up the tempo of a novel.
