Everything is fine for Ashley but for her nagging feeling that someone is watching and trying to kill her all the time. Meanwhile, she gets to know only now, that Jim Cleary, Ashley?s lover at college, was castrated and murdered. Dennis Tibble, a co-worker, who constantly pressures her for dates, is killed the same night when Ashley visits his apartment. Richard Melton, a painter who loves Alette Peters working in Global Computer Graphics is brutally castrated and murdered. A Jean Claude Parent falls in love with Toni Prescott, working in Global Computer Graphics and is found dead in his apartment in Quebec City. Deputy Sam Blake who stays for protection to Ashley in her apartment is found dead in the alley. The fingerprints and the vaginal discharges found in the scenes of all crimes of the five men who were found to have had sex before being murdered matches exactly with Ashley?s. She faces trial and David Singer takes on the case and the shocking truth is revealed that Ashley suffers from Multiple Personality Disorder. Toni and Alette are just altar egos in Ashley, born to ably help her cope with her sufferings. After a nerve racking battle, Ashley is released and sent to the Connecticut Psychiatric Hospital.
