My Valiant Knight
(Howell; Hannah)

Publicidade
In the northern, war-ravaged lands of thirteenth century England, a man must plan his future carefully and guard his back well. Sir Gabel de Amalville accepts his mission to end the brutal way of the McNairn clan hoping to leverage the King?s favor to further his own dream of readying his home for an appropriately titled and wealthy wife who will give him sons. When he arrives at Kengarvey, instead of beginning a battle with a cunning enemy, Gabel finds the McNairn holding already under siege and the youngest McNairn, Ainslee, running for her life. With quick thinking, Gabel changes his plan of attack to one of ransom, hoping a treaty of peace for the girl?s return will save lives. Deciding to take Ainslee as hostage is much easier than keeping her from testing both his sense of honor and his determination to continue with his plans for his life. Ainslee is an honest, courageous and beautiful young woman who trades a treacherous life at home for one as a comfortable captive in Gabel?s bed. Unfortunately, when the ransom is agreed upon, Gabel must trade her back to her father to fulfill his mission. Ainslee understands honor, believes in Gabel?s integrity, but knows what will happen if she cannot convince him of the treachery around him. If Ainslee is sent back to her father, there will be no happily ever after for her.
I found this book slow to heat up but once things did, I couldn?t wait to see when the light would dawn on Gabel?s naiveté and what he would do in retaliation. My need for revenge was satisfied. 320 pages.
