Every chapter has individuality that in no way hinders continuity of the story. It simply oozes freshness in every page you turn. Beauty of character building has right dose of dramatisation that makes its reader believe them. The author of this book has exhibited his full understanding of human psychology. Reader go along with the lead character in his journey of crime and his justification of his crime and then his trip of guilt and finally how he manages to comes out of his guilt. Other characters too ably supports the plot. Not a single text seem superfluous and carry forward the story with the same vigour with which it starts of. 'Crime and Punishment' has no parallel and it's originality stands out as even after so many years of it being written no one could imitate the magic of this classic. In fact no one even tried to. It's a classic in true sense. Reader experience hatred, anger, agony, annoyance and feelings which can not be defined in words. In the beginning you are connected with the criminal deep-seated within you whose presence you seldom acknowledge. This is when you get annoyed. Somewhere down the line you start recognising it and then you start empathising with the lead character despite your hatred for him. The subtle romance that is mingled so dexterously that it could only enhance the splendour of the story and lead it to its appropriate climax. And the sparkle that you experience in the beginning of the story and that continue with the progress of the story hasn't faded till the story ends. In fact it goes beyond that and even after you close the book you are left mesmerised.Your belief in goodness is renewed and your apathy is left shattered unless you forget about this book.
