The main character, Arthur Dent, begins this story concerned about his house being demolished. Meanwhile, his friend, Ford Prefect, that comes to confess to be a researcher from a planet in the vicinity of Betelgeuse, brings the news that the whole planet Earth is going to be demolished. Before Arthur can even understand the situation, he finds himself somewhere inside a Vogon space ship that has just destroied his world. From sticking a Babel fish into his ear (to understand alien languages) to rescuing the President of the Galaxy, Zaphod Beeblebrox, Arthur reencounters Trillian, who he'd met few months before at a party. Along this incredible adventure, Arthur's taken through improbable worlds with a little help from a ship stolen by Beeblebrox.
