This book starts with a bad morning in the life of Arthur Dent- your normal average joe. You follow him as he wakes up late, stubs his toe and burns his toast...which ultimately leads to his home being destroyed. Which suddenly seems like a minute problem when he learns that his friend Ford Prefect, is actually an alien with knowledge of Earth's impending destruction. As he gets whisked off the face of the Earth just seconds before it is exploded to make space for the new galactic expressway, you will follow him on his bizarre journey as he becomes a wanted criminal, discovers the existence of an insane electronic encyclopedia, multilingual tiny fish and a world with no tea whatsoever, whilst juggling a friendship with a chronically depressed robot named Marvin in the search for the meaning of life. All this while being on board a ship captained by a 2-headed alien man with the alias Zaphod Beeblebrox who coincidentally, also swept off with his perfect woman.
