This 20th century clasic is an original, irinic look at the second world war, from and American point fo view. The book is the author's most known and succesful and shows the insanity and the irony of war.Yosarian, a young luitenant in the air force is having a hard time to understand why the people he is trying to bombared are trying to kill him. To avoid this questions and the chance to be actually killed in battle he escapes to the hospital using a faced somick ake as an excuse, which puts the medical staff in a difficult possition being too weak to treat and too srtong to ignore. However the absolute lack of ocupation provided by the hospital forces Yosarian to go back to the dangers of war, which he manages to mirically outlive. Yosarian shares a tent with a young pilot called Or and a dead guy, who didn't have the chance to report his transmition to the local comandment and therefore was left outside the reckord, thus becoming untouchble. Yousarian's comander is Major Major Major Major, an increadbly dull and unlucky man who was promoted all the way up to a Major just because that was the fastest way to get read of him. He is majorly insecure, in addition to being dull, and after he managed to isolate himself he dedicades his life to his newly invernted hobby: sighning as Eirving Washington. This hobby brings two CID agents to the camp, who are mainly conserned with finding out about each other's actions. The book is filled with other outragouse funny characters, among them the increadbly shy prist, his apertunist asistant and General who likes to valantier his man to the most dangerouse missions.The author served as a luitenant in the air force during WW2, just like Yosarian. After writing this book for 7 years he never managed to repeat this succes, although he published several other books.
