The Tenth Insight
(James Redfield)
This is a sequel to the immensely popular book, "The Celestine Prophecy" and is likely tp provide sufficient mental pabulum for those avid readers of spiritual literature. The author calls this new age the age of transition and that humanity as a whole has to acquire new insights , culminating in the tenth insight. The ideas are propounded through the settings of a novel. Reflecting the symbolism of the soul's journey in quest, the author makes the proponent of the novel take a long journey in the National Forest, Appalachian Valley. The searcher(seeker) has to meet a character called Charlene. He does not know where or how. He has to simply rely on his intution to find her. He sneaks into the dense forest giving the slip to the Forest Service. He is helped at crucial times by a mysterious person whom the seeker had met in his previous perigrinations in Peru, Wil, his guide. The guide has the astonishing power of materialising out of nowhere and vanishing again, goading the seeker to further stretches of intution. It is understood that the tenth insight is all about the new spiritual transformation of humanity. This naturally incites a hostile force, originating from the primordial Fear. The insight reveals that Evil also has its birth from the original Fear). It ia now acting through a person highly skilled in technology, who is conducting advanced but extremely dangerous experiments in the same forest, unbeknownst to the authorities. The seeker's task is to search and gather his own group of people, all struggling to perfect themselves in consummating the tenth insight. Their spiritual forceswill combine and act only after each person in the group understands his own past and present lives thoroughly uncovering and clearing all imperfections. Each perso is supported on his task by his own soul group. The members , all of them in this process are offered visions of their past lives again and again, so that they finally see that all of them were interconnected in their past lives and are brought here for a purpose. They realize that they are part of the evolving human consciousness. The insight clearly reveals to them that the force of Fear are not to be fought using violence. Love and only love, uncompromising in its totality can transform the forces of Fear. In the climax, the scientist who is carrying out the dangerous experiments confrontsthe group with his guards, carrying pistols, weapons. After an initial failure the group as a whole succeeds in working as one unit mentally and spiritually . They are able to project their vision of love so that it embraces and encompasses the scientist. In the course of arriving at the final scene of encounter the author paints glorious visions of the human consciousness as it evolved from primordial matter to its present stage. `` An inspiring book to read, though the technique is neither sophisticated nor subtle.
