Charlie
(Pearsley; Lesley)
Charlie is a care-free teenager who has led a privileged life until one day her father disappears and she witnesses her mother being brutally attacked by two burley looking men. Suddenly her whole world is turned upside down and she has to grow up quickly, leaving her childish ways behind. Even her best friend doesn?t understand her anymore and they drift apart. Feeling all alone, she finds herself penniless and homeless with her mother crippled and needing to be cared for. Her life is full of misery, despair and cruelty until she finds a new life in a local seaside town. She finds solace in unexpected quarters when she convinces an old fisherman to take her on at his bait shop. They help each other to deal with the sorrows of the past, and her strength and courage shine through as she overcomes the many obstacles that come her way. She finds love despite warnings from those close to her, but manages to deal with the disappointments that life throws at her. She never stops searching for her father and moves to London in an attempt to uncover the truth and make a new life for herself. She discovers many unsettling truths about her father, linked to seedy strip clubs and organised crime. The intrigue and danger deepens when someone dear to her falls victim to the same evil criminals connected to her fathers disappearance. Will she be able to solve the mystery before history repeats itself? Will she ever learn the real truth about the father she loved? And will she be able to handle the discoveries she makes along the way? This is a riches to rags story with some gripping twists along the way. It is a story of how good can conquer evil against the odds and how friends are always there when you need them most.
