This captivating novel of intrigue and mystery is based on the controversial premise that the Catholic Church is at the centre of a conspiracy to hide the true story of Jesus Christ. It tells the story of Harvard Professor of Religious Symbology, Robert Langdon and French cryptologist, Sophie Neveu. The story begins with the murder of renowned curator Jacques Saunière of the Louvre Museum in Paris. Before dying, Saunière draws a pentagram on his stomach in his own blood as well as a cryptic code alongside his body. He then positions himself like Leonardo da Vinci?s famous drawing, the Vitruvian Man. Langdon is called onto the scene by the captain of the CDPJ, to help decipher this series of mystifying codes.

Langdon and Neveu, granddaughter of Saunière then set out to unravel the mystery, exploring some of culture?s greatest obscurities from the Mona Lisa to the Holy Grail. As the riddle begins to take shape, the secret cult of Priory of Sion is illuminated. The Church is caught in a desperate race to silence the Prior of Sion, who has the power to shatter the very foundations of Christianity.

Acclaimed by some as a masterpiece and rejected by others as poorly written and inaccurate, The Da Vinci Code is a mandatory read.
