What Is Love
(Saarang)
Love is a deep personal experience which give rise to ecstasy.Biographers try to identify it with love affairs and fantastic conjectures by linking it with pluasible theories.Love expresses a feeling of ecstasy in the choice of the one being to whom we pledges a whole-hearted and exclusive devotion. The chosen one is of course an earthly lover. However while talking in terms of soul, it is a spiritual passion signifying something better than mundane matters. Love is doing as well as being, however. In love there is a need for fulfilment through absolute commitment. It is the charged potential of human being who remains dormant until identified into conscious vitality. It is actually finding oneself through losing oneself.A lover achieves identity when he claims the other one as his own. They may feel ecstatic on being swept up into the possession of one another. Wordly love whether fully realised or not , has been the paradoxical image and counter image of all human aspiration towards spiritual union with God.The lure of the flesh must be overcome;yet mystics have found no language except that of sexual love to express the indescribable and indefinable which they sought. It is a painful transition from one to the other. Instead of trying to define the indefinable essence of love we should first of all try to understand what it does to us.Love remains meaningless unless reciprocrated. We should always realize that it is love that creates the only harmony in the universe and that divine love surpassed natutre's beauty and human affection.Love in Emily Dickenson's view is a loaded gun.It stands with inert force and potential which can only be released by another. Even histories glorify love with the affairs such as Devdas and Paru, Romeo and Juliet, Laila and Majnu..etc.Love is actually something which cannot be described in words but can only be experienced.
