My all time favourite book
"Ohh! sooo ...romantic" I sighed ...Now don't get me wrong..this is definitely not my reaction to anything my husband did..(though he is a sweetheart most times..i don't think anyone could call him a die hard romantic) ..I was deeply engrossed in one of my passions..reading and this is how i reacted to the popular book ,THE BRIDE by my favourite author JULIE GARWOOD.
My passion for books should be well known to you all by now...But one thing people could never understand was why i should spend my time reading romances...Now how can i make them understand that there romances and then there are ROMANCES...The Mills & Boons and Barbara Cartlands cannot carry a candle when pited against Julie Garwood or Judith Mc Naught is my opinion...Gone are the Tall Dark ,Suave cynical Business man ,the hero who treats the herione like a chattel..and so are the heroines who take anykind of nonsense from the hero....
Ulike the modern romances....Julie Garwoods usually have the historical or regency era as backdrop...and the story of course is utterly charming most of the time,.....
This story goes on to potray the quest of two scottish lairds for english bride , at the insistence of their king.....The two central characters are Alec and Jamie....their verbal skirmishes...how they try to adjust to marriage and the outer menace that is a threat to their marriage and Jamie's life... And of course the story ends with both the charming soul's realising that this was no arranged marriage but an union of souls...
In this book... Jamie ( oh! nooo...that is not the hero..) as the name suggests, It is the heroine, who rides horses better than any man,,,,though english born can speak Gaelic( the language of scots) beautifully and can also hunt...Is it any wonder that the Hero fell for her ? Trust me on this..very few who start this book will be able to resist the sweetness and charm of Jamie....I call upon every one to atleast take a peak at the book.ENJOY!
