Pride And Prejudice
(Jane Austen)

Publicidade
Pride and Prejudice is a classic example of things not being what they seem, how assumptions can harm you, and what you don't know might be the very thing that you must find out. Jane Austen writes from her heart, but somehow manages to also write from the perspective of her entertwining characters, therefore breathing life into each of them and putting yourself in their shoes.

When Elizabeth Bennet first meets the mysterious and aloof Mr Darcy, she is confused of the feelings he elicits in her, yet her instincts tell her that he is dangerous and nothing but trouble. She places the blame upon him for causing the seperation of her beloved sister and the man that she loves. All of the angst that Elizabeth feels over situations beyond her control, throughout the course of the story, she convinces herself that Mr Darcy has had a hand in most of them. Circumstances, and events place them in each others lives and geographic location, again and again. When feeling for him develop, she refuses to acknowledge them, instead choosing to call him out and chastise him for being to blame.

Little by little, their lives become entwined and becomes a most classic tale of love, misunderstanding, and desperate attempts to convince themselves that neither of the other matter. Though a man of few words, Mr Darcy's true character begins to shine through with his good deeds and Elizabeth is forced to open her heart and accept the possibility that what she tried so desperately to convince herself of, just isn't at all.

The simmering feelings that develop between the two so gradually that they are shocked to admit to themselves, let alone another soul, leap out at you from the pages, creating a tension that lingers in the mind of the reader as you wade through the witty dialogue and get to the heart of the matter.

And sometimes, THE heart of the matter is that in the end, love and understanding, are all any of us truly need. That is a fact as timeless as this novel.
