Having accidentally learned to read and write in previous apprenticeships, Theo winds up as an ideal candidate for printer?s devil. The printing business, however, falls on hard times as the evil Cabbarus implements a censorship program. When Theo publishes a pamphlet for Dr. Absalom, he finds himself on the wrong side of the law, and must flee the town of Westmark.
Out on the road, Theo develops a camaraderie with Dr. Absalom (also known as Count Las Bombas), and Musket, his faithful servant. Along the way, they are joined by Musket, a street waif with baffling past. Making a living selling elixir quickly turns to increasingly complex schemes, which lead them to an even greater undertaking? saving the kingdom.
