Surf --the Men Seal --surf
(Susana Garcia)
Surf surf is a sport that consists of sliding on the waves of the foot sea on a table, directing it thanks to several keels. Original of the Hawaii islands, it was exported to the United States where, in the middle of century XX it was put fashionable and, later, one extended to the rest of the world, including Europe. Sport and styles the difficulty of this sport is, as much in the speed, as in the size and the form of the waves. There are some waves that are to hundreds of meters of the border, whereas others (the orilleras) are much more close and, therefore, are more dangerous since, if one of them breaks on the surfista, it is more probable that it is projected against the marine bottom. The waves vary much according to the bottom on which they break: on the sand or reefs of rock (rock waves) or chorale. When a wave breaks not progressively of abrupt form and, towards the right or the left, bar is denominated to him and it is not possible to take it. The size of the waves in surf is moderate depending on the place where we are: Behind, to the hawaiano classic style since one becomes in the Canary Islands; By the part of ahead: of evenness from sea to the highest point of the crest, since usually one becomes in the rest of Spain; Comparing it with the parts of the human body (shoulder wave, wave of waist, wave of man and means). Surf basically exists two "categories" inside del, itself, that are shortboard, or surf of short table (of between 1.50 and 2.10 meters) and longboard, with tables of length equal or superior to 2.75 ms, that is really surf classic. There is a series of basic movements in surf, that are the following ones: Take Off: It is the first maneuver that makes the surfistas: it is the moment at which it is let row laid down on the table and one goes to the raised position, ready to slide on the wave. It is taken off on the wave, more by his power than by the wind. Bottom Turn: As its name indicates (in English, ' bottom' = down, ' turn' = to turn), this maneuver consists of the first turn after "take off", since, in the low part of the interior of the wave it is where frequently it fails the wind and it must be maneuvered with the inertia of the slope to be able to return to raise. Of not doing it, we would go directly to the border, we could not cross the wall of the wave and the foam of the broken wave would reach to us quickly. He is the opposed one of the Cut Back. Cut Back: it consists of raising by the wall of the wave for, once in the crest, turning abruptly and to return it to lower. Reentry: it consists of raising until the crest of the wave and making an abrupt turn of 180 degrees, returning to lower it. Floater: it consists of sailing on the foam of a rompiente. Tube: it consists of sliding by the interior of the tube that creates the wave when breaking. This is considered the maneuver reigns of the Surf by its difficulty and spectacularity. It is the wave perfect and dreamed by all surfer. Aerial (or Air): it is denominated thus to all maneuver that entails a takeoff of the water and it becomes, therefore, in the air.
