fifa world cup ETHERLANDS-ARGENTINA: Players' Quotes Carlos TEVEZ (ARG), Budweiser Man of the Match We?re happy with the result although it would have been nicer to take the three points. We were the better side, but we couldn?t quite take our chances. I felt comfortable out there but you could see we lacked a little co-ordination with (Lionel) Messi and (Juan) Riquelme. They left the odd gap in defence, but we couldn't make the most of it. Even so, it's great to finish top of such a difficult group. Mark VAN BOMMEL (NED) We've just played a team capable of winning the World Cup, so we can be perfectly satisfied with the result. Both teams were already through to the second round, so the pattern of the match was hardly a surprise. We have two scores to settle with our next opponents Portugal, one from EURO 2004 and one from 2002 World Cup qualifying. Rafael VAN DER VAART (NED) I felt good throughout the match, so I reckon I'm 100 per cent fit, especially when you remember I was out for two months with injury. But I don't think we're favourites against Portugal. Dirk KUYT (NED) We worked hard and battled as a team. We didn't put out our first-choice team and obviously we're a different proposition with (Arjen) Robben and (Giovanni) van Bronckhorst in the side. Robben is our best player, and you've basically got to have him in your team. If we can get past Portugal, we could well end up playing England. A lot of our players earn a living in England, that would be an interesting match. It'll be tough against Portugal. You only have to look back to EURO 2004, but we've got a decent chance provided we play as a unit. Ruud VAN NISTELROOIJ (NED) We're running into form. We didn't create many chances today, but we played well as a team. It was a good result in that respect. Portugal beat us two years ago, but the next game is something completely different. This is a new, young team, and we have new ideas. We'll do what needs to be done to win. We're feeling great, because we've taken seven points from this extremely difficult group. We've had tough opponents already, and we know we only have tough opponents ahead. So we know we have to improve if we're to go a long way. Phillip COCU (NED) A goalless draw against opponents of this quality is a good result. We were much better than we were against Côte d'Ivoire, when they bossed us for long spells. The new players all made a good start. They'll be confident now. Hedwiges MADURO (NED) That's my first game at the World Cup. I can't describe how I felt when I came on. Argentina are world-class. I've had a taste of it now, so I'm hoping for more time on the field. Wesley SNEIJDER (NED) We were very defensive today, with very little drive and creativity going forward. But that was the job I was given to do. I'm very pleased with my performance. We were all nervous, but in the second half we settled and played well. We've got an extra day's break now ? and that could be an advantage against Portugal. Ryan BABEL (NED) I feel great as a part of this team. For a goalless draw I thought it was a good game. Let's not forget our opponents were Argentina. I think they could probably have stepped up a gear, especially if they'd taken more of their clear-cut chances. Juan RIQUELME(ARG) It was a very hard group and that makes qualifying all the sweeter. We wanted to win today and we dictated most of the game. Overall, I reckon we played well. Roberto ABBONDANZIERI (ARG) We were solid and secure, and played a great game against an excellent team. I thought we created clearer chances than they did and deserved to win. It was a useful night for us in terms of our next game. We know where we have to improve, but we?re in a relaxed frame of mind ahead of the big match against Mexico. They will be really difficult, but you expect that in the knockout stages. Lionel MESSI (ARG) It was a difficult game. There wasn?t much space and you have to remember thal players. Next up are Mexico, who are a strong team and play good football. There are no easy opponents at this stage of the tournament, though. As for me, well I feel fit enough to get through 90 minutes, but I was tired at the end because I haven?t played for a while. Now is when the real World Cup begins. Esteban CAMBIASSO (ARG) The team was comfortable out there and we dominated for most of the match. We created lots of chances but we couldn?t take them. The boys are delighted to finish top of the group and although we couldn?t repeat the performance against Serbia and Montenegro, we looked good. Fabricio COLOCCINI (ARG) It was a tough group but things are about to get even tougher. We can?t afford to slip up as all the teams that are left are there for a reason. I don?t think we should worry that much about Mexico ? we need to concentrate on what we?re doing.
