The Sixth One
(Jose;Maria;Arguedas)
Jail. Almost any reader should have listened something about jails. Something quite different is having lived this experience to tell. This author goes just to deep hell to report peruvian jails in 1957, in fact, he is the jailed character in first person. The under-world Arquedas report is something real, tangible, like something normal. He just goes out of his own creation to survive. Hell becomes smaller. Alchemy doesn´t work. The character walks through no-end streets. While all gratings burn, years goes by slower. Silence is louder while everybody glances each other, histories are whispered, strokes, leaders, and situations the a jailed man cannot control. All are jailed here, and music makes a new sense, while eyes close, winter comes again. ?Lanzas?, ?chorros", ?cartereros?, ?suckers?, ?pacos?, ?techos?, ?rapers?, ?politic prisoners? takes part of this jungle found in the novel, where a great man desappears but gives a testimony that can be found. Recomended.
