Guide to Investing Guide to Investing ? What the Rich Invest In, That the Poor and Middle Class Do Not! is a book written by Robert T. Kiyosaki with Sharon L.Lechter, C.P.A. the authors of eminently successful book and the best seller Rich Dad and Poor Dad. Guide to Investing is the third in the series after The Cash Flow Quadrant. The title of the book is suggestive. This is a book on investing. It deals with various aspects of investing like What, Why, When and Where of investing . The intricacies of investing are discussed with clarity. Since risk is inherent in any investment, the basic rules of investing are explained in an elaborate fashion. According to the authors, financial planning is essential for successful investing and financial literacy is the key to reduction in risk Unfortunately, majority of investors neither have a plan nor endowed with financial literacy. Most of them plan to be poor rather than plan to be rich. Consequently, 90% remain poor at the bottom of the pyramid and 10% are at the top end. The psychology of financially successful persons is radically different from the ordinary folk. Some of the principles dealt with in the book include 90/10 principle, the cash flow quadrant etc. The authors emphasize on three aspects to emerge successful in investing. The three key elements include 1. Education 2. Experience and 3. Excessive Cash. Investing is simply a plan, made up of formulas and strategies, a system of getting rich. In other words, to become a successful investor, you must have a plan, be focused, and play to win. Altogether, it requires a different mind set. Besides, one should necessarily follow in the foot steps of the rich and inculcate the financial vocabulary, financial skills and financial discipline of the rich to become wealthy. The authors also talk about several wealth building concepts and strategies like, investor controls, how to convert earned income into portfolio income or passive income and finally how to turn ideas into multimillion-dollar businesses. The authors classify investors into five categories like the Accredited Investor, the Qualified Investor, the Sophisticated Investor, the Inside Investor and the Ultimate Investor. The examples of the Ultimate investor include the likes of Bill Gates and Warrant Buffets of the world. The authors fondly hope that everyone should aim to become the Ultimate Investor. In sum, it is a way of thinking that creates assets and once you have that way of thinking you will be richer than you ever dreamed possible. The book is meant for the really serious investor and certainly not for the persons with the ?get rich quick? mind set. A must read for the serious investors for real wealth building.
