Pride Goes Before Fall (continuation)
(Nathaniel Oluseye)
Soon, the air was rented with gunshots, and sounds from various drums, all over the arena. Soon the event begins with the king?s opening speech as delivered by the M.C, an elderly, educated man. Before the old man finishes the speech, ?Agberaga? was seen few distance away with his boys, making a hell of ridiculous noise with their drums, ?Emi ni kan ni, ko si elomiran mo, ni ilu yii ko, kiniun loba eranko gbogbo?. , Emi ni kiniun ilu way ii, ko si elomiran mo. Interpreted ? In this village, I am the only Lion, no one else. They did not stop beaten their drums until they reached the scenario of the event, but this was not surprising at all to the villagers, since they had knew him to be an hypocrite and a prideful person before, the major reason the name ?Agberaga? was given to him, meaning; a person full of pride. After which the contest fully kicked off with the females. As the names of all the female contestants was announced, they all paraded, individually with the type of walking steps that suit them, which was shortly followed by a dancing competition. During this competition Agberaga was busy glaring at the ladies dancing, thinking in his heart that the lady whomsoever dances admiringly, having a big buttock, and a big natural infant milk producing factory, is the lady to whom he shall choose as a wife. Haven not win a contest, he was busy thinking of what he ought not to be thinking about by now. He was counting the number of chicks, without being hatched, little had he remembered that it was too early for him to be thinking about such a thing, when he ought not to. The female contest soon ended, that the M.C called out the names of the male contestants. On getting to the name of ?Agberaga?, all the villagers wore a glooming face, as they did not like him to an extent owing to his bragging nature. He was lucky to begin the fighting contest, as the M.C announced that Agberaga and any other opponent of his choice would start the males? contest. On hearing this, he was filled with ecstasy, as he had been seeking for the opportunity of starting the contest, so that his performance could be well noted by the village audience. He was able to defeat so many of his opponent without much stress, since he was more huge and starminanted than them. But will he be able to win the contest?, I am not sure or It?s likely.
