The Little House
(Philippa Gregory)

Publicidade
From the title, one could easily imagine a sweet little cottage, somewhere in a rural English village, perfected by peacefulness and relaxation; the ultimate scene for a chocolate box photograph!
Not so!
This ?little house? could not be further from this idyllic description, and much evil manipulation and hidden agendas wreak havoc in this gripping and twisted plot.
The often spoken, ?No woman is good enough for my son?, statement, takes on a new meaning in this story, when a mother is unable to cut the ?apron strings? from her son; the one?s SHE is holding?not him! (Well, not as tightly, anyway.)
The ever much joked about ?mother-in-law? takes on a different stance in this tale, which is no longer any fun, and the sinister contents take on a far more dangerous plot, at the turn of every page and at the beginning of each new chapter.
This book is great for picking up to read on a relaxing afternoon with a gin & tonic, or a good bed time read sipping a rather sinful hot chocolate! The reader needs the gin & tonic to steady the nerves and the hot chocolate to ensure that after reading chilling sentences, sleep will ensue!
As the story unfolds, the reader could be forgiven for sensing the desperate emotion of the victim and the need to ?take? various characters ?out? of the book and ?shaking? them till it hurts to bring them to their senses!
A woman scorned knows fine well that damage can follow, and this is no exception in this intriguing tale.
Circumstances here, contribute to what could be quite a believable situation.
Delightful in it?s entirety, without the need for a ?string-bead? plethora of swear words in each paragraph, this book will keep you in suspense right until the final sentence!
