Book Of Matthew
(King James)
The Gospel of Matthew is a deep well of information of words spoken by Jesus, which are printed in red. One such scripture is ?Blessed are the merciful for they will obtain mercy?. We find this statement made by Jesus printed in red in the ?Blessed are ??? scriptures. However, what does this mean to us today is a question we need to look at. Are we a merciful people or do we seem to have forgotten what mercy means? Mercy means when our heart is full of regret and Jesus forgives and forgets. Our biggest problem today is we neither forgive nor forget. We carry our anger inside wrapped in heartache and despair. Do we teach mercy to our children? How many times have we heard our elders comment on how selfish this generation has become? Let us look at our family values of today. We teach the almighty dollar, preach the almighty dollar. We no longer have churches but churches have become big business. Some of our Christian churches show no mercy to the poor. If we cannot show mercy on that which we can see, how we can possibly show mercy on the pain inside of someone because their pain is in their heart and we cannot see the heart. Mercy is not just forgiving but mercy is love, comforting, gentle and mercy covers all things. If we all had this precious thing called mercy inside our hearts, oh what a beautiful world this would be. However, the reality is, mercy is in short supply. I urge all who read this to ask the Lord for a big dose of mercy and try to practice it in your everyday life. This would make our lives so much better. Just remember never expect something in return, for our rewards are in the giving and in the forgiving. It is a great and wonderful thing when we are able to say, ?I forgive you? and mean it from our hearts. The most blessed thing about mercy is to show mercy to others and to receive mercy from our Heavenly Father. The three greatest words ever spoken are ?I forgive you?. God have mercy on our soul.
