or matching opposite ends. To join love with death, or with the transitory
state which leads to it, allows the author to break through our trivial social
lives and to venture into a different atmosphere of which the reader is
necessarily a part. Joining the physical body with the feelings is returning to
romanticism but with new weapons, where the soul has the right to become solid
and touch the other, body and soul together. The plot is plainly driven, even
though the writer does not always succeed in making it intriguing, taking us
from Lauren?s life to Arthur?s, perhaps to try to explain us the reason of this
reality that finally remains unjustified: why is Arthur able to see, feel,
touch the spectre of Lauren? Moreover, we could think that the whole of the
characters share a common way of expression, based on a sense of humour that
goes from one to another: from the inspector to his assistant, including friend
Paul, and of course, and though in a more delicate way, our two heroes as well.
In spite of these weaker points, the author has found a real melody, with a
deep reflection on the sense of life and good feelings such as Friendship and Love
?in capital letters-. In a word, a deep
breath of oxygen in a universe, literary or not, where cynicism and mockery are
the only artistic attitudes allowed.
