Women rights typically refer to legal rights of women which pertain to social and
human rights of women. These rights are basically are concerned with Feminism, Reproductive rights, civil rights, Elimination of discrimination of women.

There is a general argument why women need protection against men and society, it has been laid down in this regard that abuses against women are widely tolerated. Violence against women is a global epidemic. We live in a world where women do not have much control over their bodies, they are unable to seek protection from government for physical violence in home. Men in some countries likes Pakistan, south Africa, peru , Russia and Uzbekistan beat women in the home at astonishing rates while the government in these countries refuse intervene to protect and punish their batterers. Also, in certain countries like Ukraine, Nigeria,burma, thiland are bought and sold , forced into prostitution because of insufficient government attention to protect their rights and punish the culprits. In countries like Guatemela , south Africa and mexico women?s ability to enter work force is restricted by private employers by discriminatory employment laws or discriminatory enforcement of laws. In U.S students discriminate girls who do not conform to male standards of female behavior. Women in Morocco, Jordan, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia face government-sponsored discrimination that makes them unequal in law which provides discriminating family codes which takes away their legal authority and place in the hands of male members of society also restricting women from participating in public life.

In India also the problem of women exploitation persists , there are various exploitation in the name of God. In order to cure this crux different bills have been passed for protection women rights. There is promotion of having two children. There should be no question of a poor women having two child when she cant feed them and they die of poverty. There is Punishment for Death due to dowry and also abortion or killing of girl infant.

The constitution of India not only grants equality of women but also adopts measure of positive discrimination to neutralize the social , economic and political disadvantages they are facing as mentioned in article 14. The fundamental rights as mentioned in Article 15 of our constitution refer no discrimination among human human beings in terms of cast, race, sex or religion. Article 15(3) makes special provision for positive discrimination in favor of women. Article 16 provides equal opportunity to all citizens in public appointments. Article 39(a) provides equal opportunity to all men and women for livelihood. Article 39(c) ensures equal pay for equal work. Article 42 directs just and human working conditions and maternity relief. Article 15(A)(e) imposes fundamental duty on every citizen not to do any practice derogative on dignity of women.

Viewing all the discrimination the need was felt to set up a human right commission which will aim at raising awareness and challenging impunity for women?s human rights violation. The need for Women rights is the fight for freedom to be fully and completely human and equal without apology or permission.

The Women human right commission aim to improve responsiveness of the international human rights system to the violence that happens to women because they are women. The commission work on vast array of women?s concerns, including all classes of women including women workers. It protects women against domestic and sexual violence also aims to improve women status in family, it provides international justice to the women by safeguarding women?s legal status and reproductive rights.

The argument is laid down for separate human right commission for women. The concept behind this is that a separate place within human right watch will be responsible for developing women right expertise as an independent unit. A separate womenright commission will ensure more sustained focus on women human right.


Thus, It can be said that Government not only in India but worldwide is taking effective and corrective measure for protection women Rights and providing privileges to the women by making laws eliminating discrimination and grating positive discriminations to them.
