Kaushik Rai, a Vishakhapattnam resident and marketing manager in Hindustan Petroleum Corporation, from past few Days, in weekends is enjoying a game on his television set whose dazzling effect can not leave anyone from being impressed, but unfortunately this Game is not cricket instead football, that too international soccer where visibility of Indian players is impossible. Kaushik Rai says, ?In comparison to boring cricket match breath stopping high level soccer match is much more enjoyable?. Now a day not only Kaushik Rai but most of the youths of the country have started liking international football matches, whether it is of English Premier league or of Spanish league match, youth don?t miss even a single match. People have become much more admirer of David Bekhem, Rivaldo, Tony Admas and lui Fego than Shewag, Dravid and even Tendulkar. Not even this, but from last some time there has been tremendous increase in these international matches T.R.P. This TRP has reached to 8th position from 7th position due to which there is much benefit to T.V. Channels like ESPN & Star Sports. Now the question arises whether the gradual increase in (day by day increasing) liking of Indian youth towards international football is a matter of delight or concern? Definitely we are not in the stage to be proud on this because where national football team is concerned, there is gradual decline in the performance of India on international level and in FIFA rating conducted recently India has reached to a very low level. Then why not fever of international Soccer should be on Indian Youths? Ultimately, everyone likes quality. Social scientist of Delhi, Ashish Nandi says that for this situation not only India or Football but abundance of cricket is also responsible. From last few years the reputation of cricket has suffered loss due to scandals like match fixing. In this condition sports fans have started searching for an alternative of cricket and they found international soccer is the better alternative. On the other hand, miserable condition of Indian Football is worth describing. Recently , during the closing ceremony of Durga Puja Festival in Calcutta a Company interested in national football, United Beverages ( Which organises Mohan Bagan & East Bengal clubs matches) had put stall decorated with posters , autographs etc of Indian football stars, I.M. Vijian & Jo Pal Anchery but this effort was supper flop. Not even 1/4th of the people expected showed interest in purchase of these Indian Football stars? posters etc. In Comparison to this, when this year in July Pepsi organised function to encourage Singapore & Thailand visit of Manchester United then there was flood of Visitors. Not only this, had they also kept quiz contest whose lucky winner was given a chance to travel Singapore & Thailand and to do photo session with their favourite players. Sports fans crowded in this contest and those who won, it seemed they got the treasure of Kuber and those who lost became badly disappointed. ESPN & Star Sports are over joyed to receive the right to telecast English Premier League & Spanish League matches. The Managing Director of this game Channel, Reik Dov Says ?We are being benefited to large extent by getting telecast rights of these games.? But some experts are of the opinion that this euphoria will not continue for long. Meyon Vain States ?People are moving towards football because they are getting bore due to excessiveness of cricket but young cricket players like Dhoni & Pathan have filled new excitement in cricket and it may be possible that in coming time the interest of public in cricket will increase more that before?. No matter how International football is exciting but it does not have that personal attachment which cricket has. Own Country is after all own country. Though Indian cricket team can perform better, this is something else that there is no hope. If Sports fans know that India in 1951 &1962 have won the football Asiard Championship than they will be more disappointed by seeing the present performance of the national football team. Sports fans say ?Why should we get photographed with Indian Football players, they are not the stars in our eyes?. Indian sports fans enjoy to watch match of high standards then why they should care that players belong to which country.
