HOW MUCH DO YOU NEED TO KNOW ALREADY? In order to be concise, this book assumes that yo know the following about the Windows 95 and Windows NT 4 graphical user interface. * How to use Windows and navigate its interface enough to stard Word with either the keyboard or the mouse. * How to use Windows programs-how to start them and how to exit them; how to use the menus and dialog boxes to make choices; and how to get help whenever you need it by pressing the F1 key or clicking any convenient Help button. * That you click toggle buttons (such as those for bolface and italic) to select them, and that they'll appear to be pushed in when they've been selected. * That you select a check box for an item by clicking in it to place a check mark there, and that you clear a check box by clicking in it to remove the check mark. * That you notrmally click the left (or primary) mouse button to choose an item or to perform an action, and that, in the windows 95/NT 4 interface, you click the right (or secondary) mouse button to produce a context menu (sometimes called a shorcut menu) of commands suited to that item. * The basics of using the Windows Explorer for file management and how to manage files within windows' common dialog boxes by using the commands on the context menu. * That windows applications let you open multiple documents at the same time, and that you can switch among them by using the windows menu.
