Dona Flor E Seus Dois Maridos
(Jorge Amado)
History is divided in 5 parts. The first one starts with the death of Vadinho in full Sunday of Carnival. Vadinho falls dead while it danced, Dress of Bahian, and its funeral is very concurred. In it the souvenirs come back of all on the deceased: the friends of spree, the possible ones loving, the known ones and mainly of the wife, Flower. Flower remembers the unfaithful, full husband of persuasive power, espertalhão, malicious player and who was Vadinho, but still thus extremely adorable. The second part was transferred during the period of fights of Flower. Inconsolável with the death of Vadinho, its mother comes back toward the city and the situation worsening. Rozilda owner is the most perfect model of mother-in-law: she hates the son-in-law, she is boat, controller, shown and pretending the social alpinista. She starts to make you intrigue on the deceased with some very devout women, while some few defend Vadinho for it to be a bonanza person. Thus, in flashback, the past of the uncommon couple is detailed. The mother of Flower wanted that the children if married rich men, and Vadinho appeared. They had known themselves in a chic party and had started namoro with the benção of Rozilda Owner, until it discovered who age the son-in-law. Later Flower leaves house and if house. Vadinho is an absent husband, always spending the money (of the others) in the game and in the women and thus the some events are shown, in flashback, of the marriage life with that adorable cafajeste, generous gastador, infidel and amantíssimo husband who was Vadinho. The chapter finishes with Flower putting flowers on the tomb deceased it. The third part is passed in the following months. Flower is gladder, although to still keep the widower façade. All the very devout women compete to find a good candidate to it and who appears is Eduardo, the Prince, calhorda that it deceived widowers to steal the economies to them. Unmasked, Flower passes if to retract. Its sleep becomes more agitated, its desire grows in the measure where it leaves the men is of its personal life But then druggist Teodoro Madureira, respected they will solteirão (it is single to take care of of the paralítica mother, who died little before), considers marriage to it and them they have most chaste of the engagements, never being together alone. The chapter finishes with the marriage of Flower, of this time approved for its mother. The fourth part starts with the moon-of-honey of Owner Flower. Teodoro is different of the deceased in everything. Fidiciary office (it does not understand exactly when a customer of the pharmacy raises the well high dress to try it), to regulate (sex to fourth and Saturdays, bis to Saturdays and physician to fourth) and intelligent, Teodoro backwards the peace in return to the life of Owner Flower. Teodoro touches bassoon in an orchestra of fans and the teacher composes a pretty music for it that Teodoro touches ground (the invitation opens the chapter) and in the day of the marriage anniversary, after the guests to break Flower sees naked Vadinho as he saw it, in the bed in the day of its death, to pull it and to try it. It opposes at that moment, fidiciary office to the husband. Teodoro goes to sleep and Vadinho leaves soon later, when ía Flower to look it. The part of the book starts here that left it famous: Flower, Teodoro and Vadinho, living in marriage at the same time, naked, invisible Vadinho to all little a Flower. The fifth part, that celebrity became book, film, seriado and as much how many they had been to the adaptations of this workmanship, start with the Vadinho come in return of deceased, trying Flower. Flower is felt divided between the current husband and Vadinho, but this says to it that it does not have why being: are colleagues, married front to the judge and the priest. This part accents two general characteristics of the workmanship: the religiosidade that mixes at the same time the catolicismo and candomblé, putting all the mythical figures of the two together and efficiently simultaneous religions (something as it is the bahian religiosidade, since Salvador has more churches that any another city of Brazil and still thus is center of the religions of African origin). To another characteristic it respectively comes to be the fact of that Vadinho and Teodoro are metaphors for id and superego. Vadinho is rebellious, impulsive, spontaneous and data to the chaos (in its in case that, the game); Teodoro is methodical and controlled ("a place for each thing and each thing in its place" is its motto, hung in the pharmacy). Thus, the image of Flower pacificamente with two, the total happy one, invokes the ideal of balance between the two.
