American-born Pamela Petro orginally learnt Welsh in Lampeter, however her attempts to further her understanding of the language are frustrated by the fact that everyone around her also speaks English - an all too easy escape route. Thus she decides to travel the world in search of Welsh speakers with whom to converse accompianed by her long-suffering friend Marguerite - who speaks English and Portugese but no Welsh. On this five month, 14 country journey she meets a variety of colourful characters, some of whom even speak Welsh!
Pamela also discovers more about what makes the Welsh, well....Welsh, whether they be foreign correspondants for Radio Cymru in Norway or Choir leaders in Singapore.
