The Little Matchstick Seller
(??? ??? ???????? ??????)
It was a particularly cold late chrismas eve. It hadn't stop snowing. A young poor girl strolled the freezing dark streets. She wore no hat and her feet were bare. When she left her house she wore her slippers but they were to big for her size. They belonged to her mother and they dropped of the child's feet when she crossed the street running, trying to dodge two speeding carriages. One of the shoes got lost and the other was picked up from the road by another boy. He ran away from there waving the shoe and calling out:" When I have kids this will be their cradle!" And so the girl was forced to walk bare foot which bled and turned blue from the cold.In her worn-out apron's pocket she had matches to sale and with her frozen hand she held a bundle of matches.Through-out the whole day nobody bought matches from her nore gave her any charity money. The poor child was hungry, freezing and seemed so miserable.Snow flakes fell on her light long hair which curled gracefully around her,but she didn't notice it.From all the windows, shining glittering light and a grand smell of holiday dishes spread throughout the street since it was chrismas eve.She quickly lit up all the matches because she so longed for heat and for her grandmother to stay with her.The light of the flame was as the light of day.Her grandmother never looked so beutiful. She held the small girl in her hands and they both hovered, hugging each other in a ray of light and joy,far far above the earth to a place there is no more cold,no hunger and no pain.In a place where god lays.As the morning of the first year rose the little girl was at the corner between the houses, lifeless. Her cheeks were pink, she had a smile on her face. Her hand still held a bucket of burned matches."She must of tried to get warm" said the people.None of them knew of the magnificent wonders she had seen. And then a glowing ray of light surrounded her and her grandmother as they carried out into the new year.
