The Sorrows Of Young Werther
(Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe)
As a teacher it has been my pleasure to teach English as a Foreign Language and now today to continue it is a most enjoyable task ... this book is useful in this connection. Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe was born in Frankfurt-on-Main in 1749 and he studied at Leipzig - he was introduced to The Works of Shakespeare ... thus our commonality in study and career! He is undoubtedly a great writer in the field of literature and this book pays tribute to his outstanding talent in this specialised field Personal circumstances led him to go to Italy in 1786 and his ITALIAN JOURNEY recalls this experience. Its summed up as a story about a young man's love affair which was terribly sad and drove him to commit suicide! Critical opinion states that this is a "Confessional" style of writing ... probably true!. Referring thus to /The Sorrows of Young Werther/ I must admit I strive to avoid such "confessions" in ordinary life as I have no desire at all unlike other members of my sex to be a Priest or involved in the Religious Profession but there you have it ... we all love literature! A quick dip and /I must leave/ and go to Las Vegas!!! Hopefully soon! Excellent reading ...
