This book takes place in the 1960s. About a
rivalry between to gangs the greasers and the socs. This book is told from ponyboy, who is a greaser. What makes this book interesting is Ponyboy and Johnny another greaser get jumped in the park. But instead of just getting beat up the socs try to kill ponyboy by drowning him. after passing out johnny kills a soc named bob who was trying to kill soda. After waking up and thinking for a while the two boys got to talk to Dallas. Dallas is a greaser who moved from NY, and has a bad reputation. He tells the boys to go hide out in a church pretty far away till things cool down. While there darry gets worried about Ponyboy. Darry is ponyboys 22 year old brother and guardian, because both parents died in a car accident. The two boys change there hair dew and get picked up by dallas. On there way home they see a church on fire. they go in to save children. after saving them ponyboy wakes up to being in an ambulance. he finds out that dally has bad burns and johnny is badly injured with a broken back. johnny soon dies. Dallas gets upset and robs a store. after cornered by police he pulls out a gun hes knows is empty and gets shot and killed by the surrounding police. this story ends with pony boy up set and reading a book from the church he was at with johnny.
