The Miser,the classic comedy of Moliere,tells about a father who tries to avoid from his children to love.Because of his sick love for money,in row of situations,some very funny some prompt a compassion,the biggest France's playwright draws Herpagon-one of the most sharp and known characters at the history of drama and culture.The play which is shown worldwide,has got a lot of explanations,psychological as well as political,and every new performance of this play makes a big chellange for its producers.At this play Moliere used with features he had taken from his self experience and from the reality of those days.He took also tricks from the play The Casserole of the Roman playwright Plautus.The miser Herpagon is a type of a lively,rich and bourgeois man which his miserliness knocks him down.He doesn't have but exhausted horses and servants with dirty cloths.When he has guests he wants "a good food in cheap cost" to be served.Herpagon is the head of the family who has two children:Klient and Eliz.But his miserliness causes him to neglect his obligations for his childs.He refuses to give them a penny,and want to get them married against their will.His children give him back and laugh at him.Klient borrow a loan shark in order to get married with his love,Marian.There at the lender he meets his father which provides the lender the cash.Eliz takes her love Veller to be as the housekeeper.Klient tells Veller to steal Herpagon's money box.The miser is getting crazy and desperate.They give him the money box only if he agrees to his children's marriage with their loves:Marian to Klient and Eliz to Veller.The miser feels he has no choice and accept all the conditions,because of his big love and worries for his money.Herpagon wanted Klient and Eliz would be married with rich persons but he has got no choice.The play itself Moliere took from an ancient Greek play called The Casserole.
