It is a member of the International Save the Children Alliance, comprising 27 national Save the Children organizations working in more than 100 countries to ensure the well- being of children IMMEDIATE AFGHANISTAN BASED OPPORTUNITY SENIOR PROGRAM MANAGER- AFGHANISTAN BASIC EDUCATION PROJECT (ABEP) DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT: The USAID-funded Afghanistan Basic Education Project (ABEP) is a five year, multi-partner project with the following objectives: [1] improve primary school teaching and [2]strengthen teacher training and support functions of central and provincial offices KEY POSITION FUNCTIONS: Provide oversight, timely delivery and quality assurance of Save the Children's activities under ABEP Lead planning for effective implementation of Save the Children's activities under ABEP Ensure timely and appropriate reporting on ABEP activity to Save the Children and the ABEP lead agency Ensure appropriate monitoring and evaluation of Save the Children's work in ABEP and collaborate closely with the ABEP monitoring and evaluation partner Monitor Save the Children's budget under ABEP and support Save the Children's Finance team with Financial reporting REQUIRED SKILLS : Advanced degree in education, development, or related field Minimum 5 years experience at a senior level in multi-partner education development programs Experience implementing USAID funded projects and managing large field programs with multiple activities and partners Demonstrated skills in strategic planning, management, and budgeting Experience in teacher education and an understanding of local government functions Fluency in English; proficiency in Dari and/or Pashto languages desirable Visit our Save the Children Career Website and apply directly on line to: http://www.savethechildren.org/careers/index.asp[/A] and RACHANA : The Disater Response Cell RACHANA, the disaster response cell of CYSD, came into being in the aftermath of the supercyclone of October 1999. The programmes of the cell are focussed on restoration of agricultural cycle, promotion of micro-credit, revival of craft-based occupations and social forestry.
