102 Minutes
(?'?? ??????;????? ????)
Jim Dewer and Kevin Flin, senior journalists at the "New York Times", wrote 102 Minutes on the basis of hundreds of interviews with rescuers and survivers. "Ivrit" publishing. 14,000 people were in the Twin Towers at 8:46am on the 11th of September. They read E-mail, signed contracts, drank coffee. During the following 102 minutes, every one of them became a part of a disastrous drama never seen before. 102 Minutes is the first and only book which shows the events from the perspective of those trapped in the Towers: Perfectly ordinary men and women who saved themselves and others. As opposed to the shows of bravery and humanity of the trapped and rescuers, 102 Minutes brings out the corruption of the real estate sharks. The real estate sharks managed, with the help of their political allies, to lower the demands of the building and safety regulations. Thus they earned hundreds of millions of dollars which cost hundreds of human lives. The book contains thousands of pages of first-witness acounts and uncountable listings of telephone calls, e-mails and conversations on radio contact. Many of the witness acounts were allowed to be published only as a result of court action. This journalistic achievment was expressed by the length of time that the book stayed in the best sellers' lists in the U.S.A.
