Phantoms
(Dean Koontz)
Often described as the master of suspense, Dean Koontz is the Freddie Krueger of the literature world, acutely aware of our every fear and ruler of our nightmares. He effortlessly creates beautiful, endearing characters in a setting so unnerving, you?ll find yourself looking over your shoulder. Wes Craven could not have created a more fiendish foe, as that portrayed in phantoms. This tale begins as Jenny Paige and, her younger sister return to their hometown of Snowfield, California. As they arrive, they notice something is amiss. The usually bustling town is eerily quiet, and though there isn?t a single soul to be seen, they have the uncanny feeling they are being watched. As they explore the town, they begin to notice the unusual happenings that could not have taken place more than an hour before. Meals remain on the tables, still warm to the touch, tables are set as though nothing has happened. But an unnatural quiet has come to rest on Snowfield and if Jenny and her sister are to survive they will need the help of professionals. The police arrive and the gruesome plot thickens as koontz gives more than vivid descriptions as he eliminates his characters in ways that will cause you sleepless nights. Always on the quest for the ultimate fright, I have not yet found a book to match it. This book should come with a warning?. ??DO NOT READ ALONE!!
