The monk who sold his Ferrari is at the same time a story- proverb and a spiritual guide. This is the story of a brilliant, successful and rich criminal lawyer named Julian Mantle, whose stressed and unbalanced lifestyle leads to a heart attack in court. His collapse brings about a spiritual crisis that forces him to change his way of life. He sales his belongings and travels to the Orient with the aim of finding the key to healthy and happy life and reaching self fulfillment. The book is a spiritual guide to any human being who lives in an agitated and feverish era and combines ancient oriental methods with current Western principles which are relevant to any person who wishes to change his way of life and reach happiness and self fulfillment. Charma divided the technique into seven parts. In each part he throws wise advices and explains simple methods and techniques:
1) Control of conscience - the wise points: * nurture your
brain - it will have an unbelievable blossoming. * The quality of your life is determined by the quality of your tought. * There are no mistakes, only learning. Consider every obstacle as an opportunity for self enlargement and spiritual growth. 2. Follow your goal - the wise points: * The purpose of life is life with a goal. * Finding out your life work and fulfilling it creates a continuous satisfaction.
* Set for yourself personal objectives and find the courage to fulfil them. 3. Practice Kaizen - the wise points:
* Self control is the basis for the control of the art of life.
* Outside success begins inside. * Illumination comes through a consistent nurturing of the body, soul and spirit.
4. Introduce discipline into your life - the wise points:
* Discipline is constructed through little actions that are performed consitently and courageously. The more you will nurture the foetus of self discipline, the faster will it grow. * Willpower is a characteristic essential for a life of fulfillment. 5. Respect time - the wise points: * Time is your most precious commodity. * Concentrate on your list of priorities and maintain a balance. Simplify your life.
6. Bestow on others an unselfish service - the wise points: * The quality of your life is summed up by the quality of your contribution. * In order to add to each day of your life a personal touch of sanctity, live in order to give. * If you contribute to the life of others, your life
is elated to their highest dimension. 7. Embrace the present - the wise points: "live here and now. Enjoy the gift of the present. * Never sacrifice happiness for the achievement. Enjoy the travel itself and you will live everyday as if it is the last day of your life.
