Psalms is a book of songs. The lyrics in the book are put together as songs with the aid of music. The lines are poetic in nature for it expresses the strong emotions like joy, sorrow, fear, love, and happiness. There are many writers in this book and it is a collection of songs. David is one such author. In fact, the Psalms is the personal diary for the writers. It also gives historical details of the period like how Moses parted the Red sea; and Pharaoh
and his chariots went under the water. The Psalmist at one-point says that musical instruments should accompany the people to sing these lines as songs. The Psalms uses many literary forms such as ballad, lyric, epic and dirge. The book of Psalms comforts and consoles the readers with its tender and kind words.
