The Gift Of The Magi

I will say up front that The Gift of the Magi is one of my favorite stories. The story depicts a young couple that don't have the financial resources to give each other a Christmas present. The young man sells his watch to buy a comb for his beloved, while his wife simultaneously sells her hair to buy a case for his watch. It is a timeless, must-read story about sacrificial giving and the joy that comes out of dying to self in this manner. The love that they had for each other showed through so brightly when each discovered what the other was willing to give up just to reaffirm their love.
