Genesis
(The Bible)
The book of Genesis in the Bible is a book of beginnings. In the opening lines, the words, "in the beginning..." set the stage for the rest of the book's theme. The beginning of man, marriage, family, society and so forth are discussed and delineated from both a divine and an earthly viewpoint. Any brief abstract will fail to deliver the depth of the text in terms of the issues that it discusses and the relevance of its contents for humanity today. In essence, the beginning of God's interaction with man is dealth with through the stories of the people written about. The stories of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Jacob and others still have relevance for modern man, in my opinion.
