Imagine if the entire world was suddenly thrown into mayhem. Thousands, maybe millions of people disapper for no known reason. The weather goes crazy, a third of the world's water supply is poisoned. There are increased wars, famines and pestilence. It all just seems to get progressively worse. Then, as if things aren't bad enough, people begin to turn on their own, forcing them to get a mysterious mark on their skin. If they don't get the mark they will be tortured and killed but if they do a fate far worse than death awaits them. Do you have the strength to resist the mark of the beast? Revelations is filled with bizarre imagery, including a giant insect-like creature that would be perfect for a horror movie. It is viewed by some as a detailed account of exactly what will happen when the world finally comes to an end and the people of God will be united with Him at last. Others, of course, believe it is a fantastic and completely unrealistic tale of revenge against those who believe differently. Either way, it is a fascinating read.
