Crime And Punishment Of Fiodor Dovstoieski
(Jefferson Plaza)

Publicidade
Crime and Punishment is probably the most important novel of Fyodor Dovstoiesky and a masterpiece in Russian literature. Raskolnikov is a poor student that kills and still an old lady that is a usurer, he wants to destroy a life that stands for evilness and miserable actions. Raskolnikov is one of the most representative figures of what an antihero is, he commits a murder in order to save his family from extreme poverty, but the usurer evokes repulsion and it is a clear contestation from the author against the bourgeoisy. Raskolnikov is tormented by the guilt and his isolation; he confesses his crime in a way to get spiritual redemption. The main argument of this masterpiece is how an extraordinary being of a profound sensibility could consider to have the strengh to subvert the moral of a time, is it possible to justify a murderer? Do we have to fight against injustice, extreme poverty and society with any possible gun? Is Rakolnikov revealing our true nature? Well, I really advise to read this book.
