Frankie Dunn trained mostly men in boxing . He did not like women getting hurt. Maggie Fitzgerald wanted to train with him but he refused. Still she persisted and one day he showed her how to hit the bag, balance herself and learn like the male boxers but Frank told her to find another trainer. She told him that all the other trainers training others have the same problem as her and they all wanted sex. She persisted in practicing what Frank had taught her and when she drew up a deal to obey all Franks orders that Dunn finally relented . So she started training her. She is diligent and Frank wished most of the other male boxers would work hard like Maggie did. He taught her not to hold her breath so she would not get tired quickly. She beat most of the women boxers and when most of them don?t like to spar with her anymore he made her spar with some males. She knocked out one of them as she got better. Dunn scheduled her first fights in small casinos and Indian reservations and she won most of them. And she even got better and she went into the big leagues. They did not want to fight her and Frank has to add his personal money into the opponent?s purse so they would agree to fight her. In London she became a star and as Frank presented her as an Irish he got most of the Irish as her fans. She became known as the million dollar baby and she was even a better fighter than some male boxers. Her lazy family began to depend on her for their living. As Maggie?s status went up Frank has scheduled her to fight a tough Russian woman boxer in Las Vegas. Maggie was to get more money than the Russian Astrakhov and she was cranky when she learned about it. This woman boxer does not play by the rules and does dirty tricks when the referee is not looking and she vowed to make her revenge. Maggie was winning and Frank thought they would win but the Russian was tough and would not relent. Maggie had a cut in the eye which is blurring her vision and the Russian knows this. Maggie was about to finish her off when the bell rang and she stopped but she did not see the Russian rush her and she knocked her down. She was taken to a hospital and in a coma for a few days and they learned that she would not any more recover. Her family came and wanted a power of attorney over her assets while she is still in the right frame of mind but she refused to give her signature and instead wanted her assets donated to a foundation. Maggie?s brother tried to assault Frank but Dunn got the better of them and slapped her mother and sister too. Maggie knows that she hasn?t got long to live and she asked Frank to help her end her life. Frank could not bear to do it. In her despair she bit off her tongue and it was severely lacerated but she survived. Frank made vigil at her bedside and thought about her suffering. She has become almost a daughter to her. Frank has now decided she will help end her suffering. He slipped into the hospital unnoticed by carrying his shoes and slipping past a nurse and almost caught. He injected her with a dose of adrenaline under the tongue which cannot be detected by an autopsy..
