India was a place for child marriages and child barely get into their teens are married off and that too to old men.This was in the 18th and early 19th century.
But now people are growing little bit sensible but still there are deaths of female child infanticide which still occurring in india.People like to have boy child because they tend to believe that boy will support them..But all these occurs mainly in uneducated Indians so they should be taught and now the government are becoming more strict regarding these can of matters.
Before there used to sati system,it means when the husband dies it is considered very inauspicious for them so she too needs to be burnt on her husband pyre.Now it is eradicated.now dowry system still prevalent in india.Dowry means the bride has to give some property or cash or any such materials to the bridegroom or the family as a gift and it is become very popular among the people at before times but now people are still open and still it is prevalent if any one comes under news he is prosecuted with entire family.
So this is a brief gist of women in India
