The Great Gatsby
(F. Scott Fitzgerald)

Publicidade
In 1920's America, decadence was high on the list of priorities. The American Dream was in full swing, to those who turned a blind eye anyway.

This complex book, involved many characters who seem to have no connection whatsoever, but who soon realise that they are all linked in a very mysterious way, all brought about by one man - Gatsby.

Told from the perspective of a private journalist, caught up in the oppulence of Gatsbies wild parties and love dilemas, The Great Gatsby proves to unfold the truth of the American Dream. All the charaters seem hapy and carefree, but that freedom is their dowmfall, as we soon learn that Daisy is not as perfect as she seems, that Gatsby has a huge secret, that our storyteller does not want to learn the truth about himself, and that all the other people he meets through his journey are also flawed in some way or another.

There secrets all seep out through various circumstances, and are totally exposed with a catastrophic event that occurs, proving that nothing can be perfect.

This riveting story is brilliantly told, using colour and creative images to stereotype people, and their lifestyles. After reading this novel, your outlook on life and people will completely alter. Things will seem clearer and you will have a greater understanding of humanity.
