Learning Xml Step By Step
(Editorial Panel)
This book is one of a series of beautifully printed, concise, low priced handbooks on IT (Information Technology) related topics, targetted specifically at Beginners and Intermediate users .XML, an acronym for eXtensible Markup Language is not a programming language but a technique for structuring and formatting data that can be shared among various applications running across various platforms. This book covers a detailed approach to developing an XML document from scratch and implementing CSS (Cascading Style Sheets - a simple language that allows you to apply styles to your document) and XSLT( XSL Transformation ) features on it along with hands on examples and inbetween notes and useful tips so that the reader understands the concepts faster and in an effective manner.Parsing techniques using DOM and SAX are also covered. For the newbie, DOM stands for Document Object Model and is an API to access data stored in the XML Document.SAX provides an event based technique to parse an XML document. If you want to know the difference between DOM and SAX then read the book, because the explanation given is beautiful. Personally, being a Software Engineer, I didnt know a word about XML before purchasing this book. For the newbie, I would recommend this book since the language is simple and explanation beautiful.Advanced users or users with good knowledge of XML can skip this book.Indian readers will be delighted because this book offers the best bang for the buck.Other books in XML published by Wrox or McGraw Hill are steeply priced and beyond the reach of students.I do not know whether MBD makes a good profit through this book series , but I definitely admire their initiative for coming up with a beautiful book priced specifically for the price conscious reader.
