Deal With It!

Victor
worked in an office full of lawyers, yet he was the only one to stand out as a
Grande Ball Gentleman. Strangely, he never enjoyed too much of attention in his
workplace. One day a big party arrived for him and he was eager to escape it.
His office space seemed crowded and brightly lit. In such moments Victor always
felt uncomfortable and asked himself the following question, ?What did I ever
do to deserve this?? Victor had hard time showing any appreciation for the
party, thus, he left early with a smile, ?What a relief it is to escape?? If I
did not get out sooner, then they would probably crush me down. Nonsense, it?s
all me. What I have to do is to apologize.
The
snow was covering every inch of the road he passed on and it became more
difficult for him to drive. As the car was still moving his mind already occupied
him with a thought of mystery, ?This bad weather is punishing me for what I did
at the office, no doubt about that, there?s not much left for me to do, but to
continue, but first?? Victor stopped at the curb, took out his cell phone and
dialed his house number. ?An answering machine, no wonder, they all probably
cozy in bed and it is me alone out here trying to reach them.? He knew the
words he said were out of control, Victor took a couple of breaths and relaxed.,
It
was getting darker now, the house already revealed itself on the horizon. Already
safe inside from all the cold his family and thrilled him with surprise
birthday party. Victor felt a bit jumpy. However, he shortly realized that
there was nothing to be afraid of and for the first time he felt peaceful
inside. His wife, Isabella wonderfully decorated the house and prepared a
delicious meal. ?Wow? he said. Yet, his children insisted, ?Speech, Speech,
Speech.? He stood up in his full length and without much hesitation he said,
?Thank you all for coming and making my day so joyful. I will never forget such
gratitude.?
Late
at night when the party was over, Victor went to bed. One loud inner voice
said, ?How could I be so selfish to the others at the office. Another quiet
voice said, ?Just sleep and deal with it.?
